Year 1

As the academic year draws to a close, we are excited to share with you the engaging and enriching curriculum planned for your children during the final half-term of Year 1. This comprehensive program aims to foster their intellectual curiosity, nurture their skills, and broaden their horizons across various subjects.  In English, your children will be exploring three exciting reading books: 'Meerkat Mail', 'The Ugly Five', and 'Zeraffa Giraffa'. These engaging stories will captivate their imagination and entice them to write using different writing styles. They will also delve into the world of poetry in the final week.  The mathematics curriculum will focus on developing a strong foundation in several key areas: fractions, understanding and working with numbers up to 100, estimation skills for practical applications, and reinforcing the concept of place value.  In science, your children will embark on an exploration of seasons and the changing length of day. They will learn about the cyclical patterns of nature and how the Earth's tilt and revolution around the sun influence these changes.  The design and technology lessons will have a culinary focus. Your children will learn about food hygiene, food preparation techniques, and the importance of a balanced diet. They will also have the opportunity to put their skills into practice by creating delicious fruit kebabs.  In physical education, your children will engage in dance activities, nurturing their creativity, coordination, and self-expression through movement.  The religious education curriculum will explore various celebrations, including Eid, Diwali, and Harvest. Your children will gain an understanding and appreciation for different cultural and religious traditions.
